2 pieces of music

I realize this is my food blog. However i am a musician, even though i have been in denial of that for a few years. Getting back into practicing and putting concerts on the calendar, locally and out of town.

Inspired by some unpleasant and unexpected events in my life i recorded this as i began to  sketch for a new solo piece i am composing, "Dragon Descends into Darkness".

The joy of modern communications, i posted that video on my facebook wall and minutes later, in response to my piece, my good friend and duet partner, Jie Ma improvised and posted this.

bagels, bialys, pumpkin multi seed rolls, and pizza!

Sunday, February 27

hands on class, get your fingers in the dough. Knead, roll, fold, bake, boil.

Learn about a few yeast bread traditions!
From eastern europe we will prepare bagels and bialys. True bagels are boiled before baked. Bialys are a rare delicacy outside of a few Jewish centers on the east coast; they are a delightful roll stuffed with an onion-poppyseed mixture.
Pizza needs no introduction but we will be topping it with pesto and wild mushrooms.
Pumpkin seed rolls are one of my own inventions using roasted pumpkin instead of water and a multitude of grains and seeds.

We will make a pumperknickel out of dark beer and chocolate with rye and wheat flours.
